Escher Unveils New PUDO Solution
New offering increases revenue and customer satisfaction for Posts
Amsterdam, Netherlands – 1st Oct, 2019 — Escher, the global leader transforming postal and courier markets, today announced a new PUDO solution aimed at Postal Operators. A Pick Up Drop Off (PUDO) point is a location that allows customers to collect and drop-off parcels, often a convenience store, which has longer opening hours and is located closer to the customer’s home or office.
Global parcel deliveries are expected to surpass the 100 billion mark in 2020 and in the US alone the number of packages delivered in 2020 is expected to reach 16 billion. Often postal operators have to make multiple attempts at delivery of parcels, in the UK alone 12% of deliveries fail first time, costing the industry an estimated £1 billion in re-deliveries. A recent report found that organizations that have implemented PUDO services have realized a 4% reduction in delivery costs and boost profit margin by 8% as a result of efficiencies in delivery and return logistics.
